Five years to pay tax debt

You are given more time to pay back the tax debts deferred in connection with the corona crisis. You will have five instead of three years and you do not have to start paying back until 2022. On the other hand, as of July 1, 2021 tax payments will have to be on time again. Deferral has then come to an end. Unlike other corona support arrangements, tax deferrals will not be extended beyond July 1, 2021. The Belastingdienst had already urged entrepreneurs to be sure to apply for deferral before July, 1.  That deadline remains in place, unless the House of Representatives intervenes. If it doesn’t, after that date companies will have to meet their new payment obligations on time, as always. But to give companies more room to breathe, the government wants to extend the repayment term. The new starting date will be October 1, 2022 (it used to be October 1, 2021) and the repayment term will be extended from three to five years.
