Prinsjesdag on September 21

This year, Prinsjesdag falls on September 21. On this day, the King of the Netherlands will officially present the government’s (financial) policies and plans for legislation in the next year. It is thus comparable to the State of the Union in the US. Often, a lot of what will be discussed on Prinsjesdag is already made public or leaked out far in advance. One much anticipated measure is the introduction of a homeworking allowance for employees to cover additional expenses incurred due to working from home. The cabinet of the government had already stated they were looking into such an allowance for 2022. The coronavirus pandemic has made working from home a staple of professional life and now action is taken to financially facilitate it.
